Wow!! It's been a while

Wow!! I guess it's been a while. I didn't realize I hadn't blogged Christmas or Weston's birthday. So I guess I have some catching up to do. I promise to have some new posts up this week. I also have a new goal of posting one picture a day. As a journal of our daily lives here. So I will start with yesterday's picture.

January 30th: Mark puts the boys to bed just about every night. Since I have the boys all day long this is time with them. They love reading books with dad and I am grateful for him spending this time with his boys.

January 31: Today is "No TV Tuesday" and the boys have been playing "Hungry Hungry Hippos" just about all day long. Sometimes I wish we didn't have a TV at all.

Chilly Days

So when it's chilly outside we get creative inside. This week...a zipline (or trip line). The boys have been playing with squinkies and legos non-stop so these was a fun thing to add to the play.

Visiting Santa

So the first weekend of the month Erie held the Erie Country Christmas Parade. So we bundled up to head down and watch the parade and see what other activities would be going on. After the parade the boys got to visit Santa which was a fun surprise. Weston is asking for a razor scooter this year and Tanner is asking for nothing in particular. :)

Our trip to Disneyland ~ The Disney Park

Here are our pictures from the park. Tanner loved the Buzz Lightyear ride. When we asked Weston what he loved he said "everything" and when we asked him what his favorite ride was he said, " all of them". It was definitely a magical year for him. He could go on all on the ride but one and I'm sure he will make it next time.

We had a great time at Disneyland!! I think you can tell by there huge smiles. They did awesome!! I can't wait to go back.

Our November Trip to Disneyland ~ Traveling

This year we decided to spend Thanksgiving week in Disneyland. We were so excited to take the boys and it just be the four of us. We decided to document the trip with our phones. I didn't do the best job but for the girl who never uses her phone to take photos I think we did alright. We spent a lot of time in the car driving from Colorado to California and then California to AZ to home. So here are our traveling pictures. We were so happy to have the new (used) van to take on our road trip.

Schnepf Farms with the cousins

We went to AZ to visit family a couple of weeks ago and had a nice visit. It was a quick visit but we did enjoy a trip to Schnepf Farms. It's been a few year since we were last there (I think Weston was only 10 months old or so).

Our favorite thing to ride were the family bikes. We all got a good laugh out of it. They guys got a good workout.

Yes, that is Tanner almost falling out. There were no belts.

Tanner loves feeding animal. Weston not so much, he doesn't like the smell.

I don't think you can see him but weston loved the roller coaster.

Tanner gets so excited to feed goat. I was nervous that goat was going to try and eat him. He was a food hog. Tanner didn't care though.

First Snow of October 2011

So I haven't even blogged our pumpkin patch trip or our trip to AZ but I have to get a couple of pictures up of the snow we got over night and it's still snowing. I can't believe the kids were swimming on Sunday in AZ and now they are playing in snow in CO. We are suppose to be back in the high 60s by this weekend. The boys enjoyed this first batch of snow. I think this is more than we got last year over a couple day period. So fun!!

I just can't keep up on blog but I'm determined because I don't think I'm going to find to scrapbook anymore. So this is my Scrapbook. I hope to actually get blog printed for my boys each year. So I need to be better about blogging. A couple of weeks ago I decided to take on a little project. I wanted some new pictures for our playroom and I didn't want super posed ones but I wanted something fun and different. So we took the boys outside and put up my backdrop stand. I bought a $5 paint drop cloth at Walmart and put some paints in clear cups. The boys had a blast and we created art and some fun photos for our playroom.

Weston's First Day of Kindergarten

Weston's first day of Kindergarten was GREAT!! He was so excited to go and so was I (for him).

(No tears here.) The new school is beautiful!! I will be doing a "Kindergarten Photo Session" with Weston next week and I'm excited to take a couple more pictures at the school. It is very exciting to be apart of a brand new school. I know there will be bumps along the way but so far the staff and parents have been wonderful. I went to the PTO coffee meeting this morning and met a few of the other moms. I am really looking forward to being involved in my kids school years. Erie reminds me so much of Pleasanton (where I grew up). I really do thank my parents for moving us to Pleasanton and sacrificing what they did so we could grow up in a good community. Quentin and I have a lot of great memories of P-town. I hope my boys understand this one day also. After being here almost two years I have no regrets (will miss family but we knew that was going to be apart of it). I'm excited for my boys to grow up here and attend schools here. I have hopes of them choosing colleges here also but we have a while before that. So, happy first day of Kindergarten Weston.

Tanner wanted to be just like his big brother today and even sat down in class to join the activities. I do not think this will ever change. He looks up to Weston so much!!

He walked right in, hung his backpack up, and did what his teacher asked. He was very eager for today and he said he had a great day.

Last minute I decided (I asked him first) he should ride the bus home. He was very excited. I decided it would be best to avoid school traffic and with Tanner's nap schedule.

4th of July weekend

Well we had a very busy 4th of July weekend.

Here are a few pictures we took at the Freestone 4th of July Parade. Tanner stayed home with G&G since it was nap time. Who has a parade at 1:00??) So we enjoyed some time with Weston. He requested I paint his face before we left. :) He was a "4th of July Spider-Man.

We finally finished the trampoline hole. It was a family effort but Mark did a LOT of the work. We are so thankful for all of his hard work and so happy to have it in the ground. We are putting a couple inches of bark around it. The next project is the sprinkler system and then we can begin planting.

We did not got and see fireworks this year but we can see 3-4 town fireworks on the 3rd and 4th. So we just enjoy them from the end of our street. On July 4th we let the boys (Mark included) play with some fireworks. We started a tad early and then I put Tanner to bed.

He didn't like them as much as Weston did.

This one scared Weston, it whistled.

Sparklers were a favorite of mine growing up. I remember running around the backyard with them. Weston really enjoyed them.

Pagosa Springs

We headed to Pagosa Springs for Father's Day weekend. We enjoyed some down time with the boys. We took them miniature golfing and swimming. We also were able to visit a good friend from high school. Then we enjoyed a hike up to Treasure Falls and Rocky Mountain Wildlife Park. We love escaping to Pagosa Springs and Durango. It's such a beautiful area.

Pre-K Graduation

Weston graduated from Pre-K last week from the Bob Burger Rec Center Kinder-Prep program. I was very happy with the program. Weston loved going every week and he adored his teachers.

So i know I'm behind. I will do my best to get caught up this week. We have been busy around here. We started may out with celebrating Tanner's second birthday. He is our "lil' monster". So I think it totally fit that we did a monster theme. We only invited three kiddos over for his party and I think it was perfect for him. He had lots of fun and he loves his friends very much. I'm bummed because I didn't take pictures of a couple of things but that's how it goes on birthday day.

Getting Ready for Summer

Since we moved into this house in the winter we were not able to play in the back yard too much. There is no backyard, it is just dirt. SInce the weather is warming up we having been spending a couple hours out there each day and we are all anxious for our back yard to be complete. Last Friday Mark and I set up the trampoline, it is Tanner's birthday present. They have also been enjoying the sand table (all toddlers should have one of these) and playing baseball. Today as I type this our extended patio is being put in. Mark has begun putting in our fence posts and once that is done we will dig a giant hole for the trampoline. Then after all of that we will begin planting, put in a garden, and add a grass area for Brisby dog. We have a small yard but I think it will be well used and we are looking forward to a lot of time spent out there and lots of good memories.

The Tooth

So after five years Weston had his first dental appointment a couple of weeks ago. I knew I should have taken him sooner but I hadn't (don't judge me). We could see a tooth in the back of his mouth we knew was going to need some work. So after his first appointment we found out he needed a cap on that tooth and 4 other small cavities filled. We tried to do the work with a local anesthetic but Weston was having it. He did fine for the numbing but when it came time for the pushing and actual work he was pulling on the dentist's arm and covering his mouth. The dentist was afraid Weston he was going to be traumatized and not want to come back to have the other work done. So after seeing a pediatric dentist it was agreed upon to have Weston knocked out while they did all the work in one swoop. So after making sure things would mostly be covered by insurance and that Weston was heathly enough for the produce we scheduled the appointment. So yesterday Weston had his dental work done and here are a couple photos I snapped. The dental produre took place at Children's North Surgery Center in Broomfield. The dentist did awesome and the nurses were great. I was very happy with how everything went.

Ready to go. His appointment was at 12:30 and we were out of there by 3:00. They did a wonderful job.

Just after her woke up. First request a popcicle. He was very quiet and calm but all there. I thought we was going to be sick but he never did get sick. Shortly after this picture he said, "I want this thing off my finger. Are we going to get a milkshake and can I play at Jacob's house?" By the way he looked I never would have thought we has ready to go. Then he told the nurse he wanted to go home. She said i think you are ready to go and we were out of there.

When he put his Batman shirt on the nurse asked him "Who is better? Batman or Spiderman?" Weston responded with "Jesus." I love it!! We wasn't talking too much but I loved that that came out of him mouth.

The Couch

Breckenridge, CO

A couple of weeks ago we decided to take a drive to Breckenridge and check it out for the first time. We took the boys sledding at Carter Park in Breckenridge. I loved that it was FREE and it was a great hill for sledding and tubing. Weston love it!! We will be going back in the future. I think we need to invest in some more sleds though. :)

We ended the trip with a little snow ball fight.

Shaving Cream Fun

The boys enjoyed playing with shaving cream the other day. It's a great thing to do on a cold winter day. Weston enjoyed it more than Tanner. Tanner tried to eat but soon realized it didn't taste so good. (Sorry the photos are dark.)

Tanner's ER visit

So last week we had a scary visit to the Denver Children's Hospital with Tanner. I'm very thankful there is a north campus about 5 miles from our house. Tanner started coughing earlier that day but nothing big and then around 3:00 in the afternoon I knew he was going to need a breathing treatment. He just starts to sound a certain way, we call it "woody the woodpecker". So I gave him a treatment and then he had one more before bed time around 9:00 (late bed time that night). We thought he would be good for the night. As all parents know, when kids are sick at night we worry about them no matter what it is. When Tanner has these issues I fear he is going to stop breathing, that's just me. Well at 10:00 he started crying and we knew we was going to get sick (he threw up twice). He was breathing a really hard and we could tell he was working to get air. I knew our treatments at home weren't going to help him and if we didn't take him then we were going to be there later that night. We just knew it was bad. So Mark took him to the hospital and they admitted him fairly fast. They gave him three more treatments back to back and then a steroid treatment to open up his airways. He's only had this one other time which was the every first time this all started last year. They also stuck tubbing up his nose to suck out the junk in him and monitored his oxygen. After all of this I guess his heart rate jumped and they became concerned. It is normal to see the heart rate increase but I guess it was pretty high. When I got there he was very shaky but I was also told that it was the medicine causing. In the end we are very glad he did not have pneumonia and was treated and released 5 hours later. They decided to keep us for a period of time while he slept to make sure he wouldn't need oxygen. They all told us if we had waited any longer he would have had to go to the main campus in Denver and most likely would have had to stay a couple extra days. At our recent follow up appointment they decided to put him on a medicine that is a very very small dose of a steroid called a "controller'. He is to have it twice a day in the winter time since he seems to have more issues in the winter as soon as he gets a runny nose or a cough. I truly hope this is something he outgrows and I hope I can find ways to help him so he doesn't have to use the neabulizer (sp?). As a mom, I also feel this is so minor to what many other moms go through. Weston has only had one minor ER visit also and he has been a very healthy boy. I could not even imagine and my heart goes out to them. We are blessed that Tanner is a pretty healthy boy too and this could have been a lot worse. For now this is apart of his day, twice a day.

As long as a show is on TV he does pretty good for the whole treatment.

So I am bound and determined to get back into scrapbooking. I have not scrapbooked since Tanner was born...ugh!! I'm way behind. I've been going through photos to get some printed and I came across this photo today...

Where does time go?? I took this picture last year a little after Christmas. Tanner was starting to roll all over the floor and I would find him in funny spots. For this photo I caught him playing with the door stops and he was having a great time. So darn cute!!!

They can fight but for the most part they get along really well and Weston truly cares about Tanner. Even if he is his "little brother".

This weekend we will finally have Weston's Superhero 5th Birthday Party. Happy birthday big boy. Where have the years gone??

First Real Snow of December 2010

We finally got a good amount of snow and the boys have really enjoyed playing in even though it's only been about 10 degrees outside. So I snapped a couple of photos. This is truely the first time Tanner has played in it since last year he was too little. I bought a bucket of it in the house earlier in the week so they could play with and Tanner enjoyed eating it. ;) Then he had a chance to play in it. He is very curious about it and Weston loves throwing snow balls at anybody and anything. :)

Christmas Eve

Sorry this is a little backwards. This was Christmas Eve in the new house. Yes, we did have our tree up. That was the very first thing to move into the house and Fran, Ray, and Weston did a great job decorating it.

I tried to get a picture of just grandma and grandpa wit the kids but Tanner wanted Daddy so Daddy is in the picture too. :)

Weston Turned 5

Weston turned 5 a couple of weeks ago and we had to postpone his birthday party due to the move. We actually got the keys to the new house on his birthday and spent most of the day moving. He did get to open his gift from us and a few from grandma and grandpa too. He also enjoyed his birthday cake.

Craziness

So I know I haven't posted in a while and I plan on catching both of my blogs up to speed once the holidays are over and moving is done. We close on the house next week and move in on Tuesday. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. We will also be celebrating Weston's 5th birthday that day. I can't believe my baby is five. I will post more soon. For now here is a picture of Weston holding up his holiday cards he colored for his teachers. He was very proud of them.

I should clarify, I posted these pictures for my mother-in-law and father-in-law to view. After view almost 30 homes we found one we really like. This is a house we are looking at purchasing with Ray and Fran (they are going to become snowbirds) and live with us in the summer. So I posted some photos to get their opinions. I love this neighborhood!! We actually currently live right across the way. They have a splash pad park and swimming pool. We are really hoping to stay in Erie. This house is in walking distance to the library and community center. The paths also connect to the downtown area where they hold music in the park in the summers and community festivals. I love being able to ride our bikes places and that is partly why we are trying to stay near where we are now. Weston would attend the new elementary school they are currently building and eventually the local junior high and (new) high school. The backyard isn't much but with there being so much in the area we may have to sacrifice having a big yard. We are still in discussion and we will see what happens.

Tanner is 18 months

I can't not believe Tanner has turned 18-months. He's going to be 2 before I know it. Where has time been going? He is such a smart little cookie and a trouble maker to boot. He watches everything and remembers everything. He wants to be just like his big brother and tries his hardest to keep up. He also doesn't slow down for a minute (that's defiantly a mommy trait). I know I've said this before, I wish I could freeze time. My "babies" are growing up quick. It makes me kind of teary thinking about it because I know I may not have any more "babies" and my boys are just going to get bigger. Each year (month) brings a new adventure. As much as I want them to stay little, I love watching my boys grow. I try to see the world through their eyes and I value my time with them.

A few notes on Tanner:

*He is running all over the place these days.

*He still doesn't talk but he sure does babble a lot.

*He uses gestures to get our attention.

*He is very load (crying or not).

*Has started using a utensils.

*Can climb all over and up/down stairs.

*Enjoys coloring and painting.

*Still loves all different kinds of foods.

*Loves playing with trains, cars, and anything with his big brother.

*Would live outside if I let him.

*Is finished with bottles (this was my delay).

*Rubs his blanket's tag to go to sleep.

*Loves to push all sorts of buttons (computer, crosswalk, controllers, handicap, anything).

*Loves to read books.

*He loves to dance.

*He is my "little monster".

Weight: 27 pounds 9.6 ounces

He still has his moms big head. :)

Family Photos (Part 1)

So this year for family photos I traded sessions with another photographer I met here who lives just north of us and we attend the same church. So back in October when my mom was here we arranged to have photos taken. I wanted them as a gift to her for her birthday also. I loved the fall colors and these are special because they were also taken the week of my 30th birthday. Corrie of Corrie Kraft Photographer has been a great friend and is a wonderful photographer. Pumpkin Painting

Batman & Robin

So Weston wanted to be Dark Knight Batman and he thought it would be a good idea for Tanner to be Robin. So here are our little super heros. :)

Trick-or-Treat

So we went trick-or-treating tonight, of course. We only went to about 10 houses and Weston was ready to come home and hand out candy. Tanner figured it out quick and eager to go to each door also.

Carving Pumpkins with Grandma "B"

When my mom was here we carved our Halloween pumpkins. Tanner enjoyed it much more than Weston but I'm very proud of Weston for giving it a try.

My Mom is Here

My mom is here visiting from northern California. We are so excited to have her here seeing bits and pieces of Colorado with us. It's beautiful right now with the fall weather and beautiful fall colors. Some of the these pictures were taken at the Rocky Mountain Pumpkin Patch in Longmont. The others were taken in Golden and Estes Park.

Fall is my favorite season.

It's Fall Time!!

So we had plans to go to Estes Park, CO today. I had planned on taking some fall photos and visiting the Stanley Hotel where I will be photographing a wedding with Corrie Kraft Photography at the end of the month. Our plans were changed when Tanner got sick in the car on the road up there. So we had a relaxing day at home. Then we thought we would get some fresh later this evening and went for a walk to the park. Our weather here is beautiful right now and I love it. A big change from the Arizona weather we are use to. We have temperatures in the 70's and leaves change colors!!
We are loving the Fall weather.

I had to post this one of Tanner for fun. Last week I was having issues with my camera and I'm still a little bit nervous about it so I've been taking a lot of "test" pictures to make sure everything is good. I thought this photo was cute with exception to his messy face. :) It's not often I can get him to look at the camera.

(I actually still think it's out of focus but oh well.)

Lafayette Peach Festival

A couple of weeks ago we decided to get out of the house and head down to the Lafayette Peach Festival. We had a great time and enjoyed some kid friendly entertainment and viewing the different booths. Weston enjoyed the "instrument petting zoo" where he got to try out different instruments. All in all it was a fun morning.

Preschool Open House

Weston and Mrs.Erin

Today Weston's preschool had an open house. So Weston got to meet one of his teachers and explore the classroom and playground a little bit. I snapped a couple of photos but it was a bit of challenge. Tanner was into everything and enjoyed exploring Weston's new classroom too. This will be the first time Weston heads out of the house to have preschool time with someone else. He will only go two days a week for 3 hours and then I will continue to work at home with him as well. I think it will be good for all of us but I know it's going to be hard at first (for mommy). He has done very well with me and I look forward to watching him grow outside of the home as well.

Jumpin'

So I wanted to a take a couple photos of the cousins playing together but it's hard to get Tanner in them because he is the baby. He doesn't sit still too much either. So I decided to take some photos of the kids jumpin' on the trampoline. It's something they all love to do some much!!I think it will be fun to edit these and put them together as a collage. I really love some of their facial expressions.

Swimming in AZ

So last weekend I surprise the kids with a trip to see the cousins in AZ. Weston did not know until we showed up at their house. He is such a trooper. I have great traveling kids. Weston was very excited to spend some time with his cousins. I know he misses them sometimes.

Denver Children's Museum

Tuesday night was "Free Tuesday" at the Denver Children's Museum. It was a tad busy and we only got to explore for an hour before they closed. We had a great time though and I look forward to going back.

We explored the "Bubbles" room. Weston loved it!!

Boulder County Fair

Tonight we went to the Boulder County Fair and had a great time. I love that admission to the fair and parking were free. Weston enjoyed some of the rides and Tanner enjoyed the animals. I always loved the Alameda County Fair and I don't think anything will every compare to that but we thought The Boulder County fair was very comfortable and enjoyable (how a fair should be). We look forward to going again next year.
